🔬 Laboratory (LIS) & Radiology (PACS) Operations Guide

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for Lab Technicians, Radiologists, and Pathologists to process test orders, scan sample barcodes, enter test values, and view DICOM imaging scans in Medzit NexHealth HMS (/pathology).

📌 Laboratory Workflow

🧪 1. Sample Collection & Barcode Labeling

1. Open Pathology / LIS in the left sidebar (/pathology).
2. Select the patient from the Pending Test Orders tab.
3. Click Collect Sample:
   • Verify sample container requirement (e.g. EDTA Whole Blood, Urine Sterile Container).
   • Print & attach Barcode Sample Label (BAR-2026-9941).
4. Click Mark Sample Collected.

✍️ 2. Test Result Entry & Pathologist Approval

1. Click Enter Test Results on the worklist.
2. Enter parameter readings (e.g., Hemoglobin: 14.2 g/dL, Platelets: 250,000 /mcL).
3. Out-of-range abnormal values automatically highlight in red badge.
4. Pathologist Sign-Off: The attending pathologist reviews the values and clicks Approve & Digital Sign.
5. The verified report PDF is automatically attached to the patient's EMR and available on the Patient App.

🩻 3. Radiology PACS & DICOM Imaging Scan Workflow

1. Navigate to Radiology / PACS Worklist.
2. Select the patient order (e.g., Chest X-Ray PA View, Brain MRI Scan).
3. Click Open DICOM Viewer to view high-resolution medical imaging scans inside the browser.
4. The radiologist enters the clinical findings impression and clicks Sign & Release Radiology Report.
